Pete Reed won Gold this weekend in the first World Cup regatta of the season in Banyoles, Spain. Since winning Olympic Gold in the Coxless Four in Beijing, Pete has since been racing in a pair with Andy Triggs-Hodge. Having qualified for the final in convincing form their biggest competition in the final race came from the South African crew who finished just 2 seconds behind. This win signifies the start of a campaign that could take the pair of them through to 2012.
