The Majid Junior Football Tournament, taking place on 6th and 7th May, Abu Dhabi, will see more than 300 aspiring young children take part in the six-a-side event.

Developed from the Arab world’s favourite children’s magazine, Majid, Professional Sports Group has created the Tournament on Majid’s behalf, sourced all sponsors and will deliver the event.

During the two-day tournament children from more than 30 teams across the seven UAE Emirates will participate at matches held at Zayed Sports City. The teams range from local schools to those formed amongst friends. PSG’s role will also help encourage children to adopt healthier lives and participate regular sports.

Jamie Cunningham, Professional Sports Group, CEO, commented:

“The Majid Junior Football Tournament is the first to be held in the region and we are delighted to be involved in an initiative which encourages young Emiratis to engage in sporting activity.”

“The Majid magazine is widely read among children across the region and while sport is an essential part of Majid’s lifestyle, it should be an important part of every child’s lifestyle too.”

“Ultimately, we hope the Tournament will help encourage more sports tournaments amongst local school children as well as grow in success year-on-year.”

The teams will compete in two age groups, under 12 and under 10. Each team will start with six players and have four players on the bench in 15 minutes matches.

The young footballers will be cheered by their families and friends in a great community day organised by PSG on behalf of event owners Majid Magazine.

Event sponsors include Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Al Ain Dairy, Al Ain Water, Manchester City Football Club, Zayed Sports City, Shangri-la hotel, ADMC Sports, Abu Dhabi Sports Channel and the UAE Football Association.
