Tom Daley Dubai

Last weekend saw the 2nd leg of the FINA World Diving Series head to Dubai. The men’s 10m platform featured every medallist from the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2013 World Championships, including Tom Daley.

Having produced a perfect dive in the morning’s semi-final, Tom went into the final full of confidence that a medal was within reach. His first dive instantly put him into medal contention, and this vein continued as he scored perfect 10s for his inward, three-and-a-half somersault routine to put himself in the silver medal position. Tom held onto 2nd throughout the remainder of the competition scoring a total of 578.25 points to surpass his previous personal best of 578.15.

Tom was happy with silver, saying: “It’s definitely nice to know that China are beatable now, and it’s just about making sure that you put as much pressure on them as possible, because who knows what can happen in competition.”

Over in Portugal for the Lisbon Half Marathon, Shelly Woods returned to winning form to take the women’s wheelchair title in a time of 50 minutes and 33 seconds, as she continues her preparation for next month’s London Marathon.
